I love concerts. Seeing your favorite artist live is an unforgettable, indescribable feeling.

I've been to many concerts in my day, and I've learned that they are an all-day event. Waiting in line for hours means you need some things on hand. These are my go-to items when preparing for a concert:

1. A backpack or fanny pack

You obviously need something to hold all of your essentials in. I usually bring a small backpack (most venues don't allow full-size backpacks). I like having a backpack because it's easy to carry around and doesn't get in my way during the concert. A fanny pack or small purse works, too! I also recommend getting a clear bag as it is easier to get through security/bag check. You can find tons of them on Amazon!

2. YOUR TICKET

This sounds obvious, but I would add this to the top of your list when packing. People get so caught up in getting ready for the concert that they forget the most important essential.

3. Water & Snacks

Standing in line for hours means you will get hungry, dehydrated, and tired. You don't want to lose your spot in line by leaving to get food, so it's helpful to bring your own.

Venues usually don't let you bring in these items, so make sure you bring disposable water and snacks.

4. Painkillers

You're going to be dehydrated after a concert, and after standing in a heated area with multiple sweaty bodies screaming around you, you will probably be sore with a headache afterwards.

5. Portable Charger

This is helpful to keep your phone charged in line before the concert and during the concert so you can capture your favorite songs.

6. Driver's License, Cash & Credit/Debit Card

It's important to have cash for parking, as well as for merch. Some venues may ask for an ID to get in, if you want to drink, or if you're doing a meet & greet just to verify that it's you.

Listed above are the most essential items for a concert. Next I am going to list some extra items that I always tend to bring with me.

1. Polaroid Camera (with extra film) and/or Disposable Camera

I like to bring one or both of these just to have more ways to capture and remember the night. It's nice to have physical copies of photos over only digital.

2. Sunglasses

You could be waiting in line anywhere, or your concert could be outside, so I like to take sunglasses just in case.

3. Sharpie

Sometimes you want to keep track of your place in line, or maybe you'll run into your favorite performer while waiting for the concert and want them to sign something.

4. Other minor items:

  • Gum

  • Chapstick

  • Oil Blotting Sheets

  • Hair Ties

  • Hair Brush

  • Deodorant and/or perfume

  • Hairspray

  • Make-up for touchups

  • Hand Sanitizer

  • Tide To-Go Stick

  • Pads/Tampons

  • Umbrella

You don't have to bring all of these, but you can choose from this list based on your needs!

Remember to live in the moment, and don't focus too much on trying to videotape every second of your show. You came to experience the performer live, not to watch it through your screen.

My favorite live shows that I have seen are the 1975 and Harry Styles, both of which I saw with my best friend. Not to mention we were super close to the stage because we had GA!!
