I've always loved breakfast. Whether it's a big brunch or a small on-the-go type snack, I hate going a day without eating in the morning.
But nobody's perfect and sometimes I skip this most important meal of the day. Being in college makes it more difficult, as I value sleep much higher than food. Coffee has to suffice a lot of the time.
Nonetheless, I still strive to eat a nutritionally beneficial breakfast. Here are some of my favorites:
For the days when I have the time & the ingredients:
My all-time favorite breakfast, especially when I have all of my favorite ingredients that make my mouth water at the thought. I've linked my favorite avocado toast recipe for you.
Really any kind of toast
If avocadoes aren't on hand, I'll settle for other toasts. You can customize them to your liking. One of my favorites is nut butter and banana. Basic, I know, but you gotta admit that it's tasty.
Pancakes
Personally, I only make average pancakes. If I'm having pancakes, hopefully my dad is making them. If you ever need a pancake, just hit up good ol' David.
Smoothie Bowl
On days where I don't have work or school, I love meeting up and spending time with my friends. One of our favorite places to go is Lueberry, located in Louisville, Kentucky. The hardest part of moving from California to Indiana was leaving behind Jamba Juice. Luckily for me, Lueberry has smoothies that taste exactly the same, with delicious smoothie bowls to match.
Oatmeal
This can also work for a quick meal. If I want quick oatmeal, then Quaker oats instant oatmeal is key (Apples & Cinnamon is the best flavor and I will not be reading any replies to this). But on the days where I do have more time, I like to cook up steel cut oats on the stove and mix in some brown sugar and banana, or fresh apples and cinnamon on top. If you haven't tried those combos, do it now.
For the days when I'm half asleep and running out the door:
Coffee
Yes, I know that coffee is probably not really 'breakfast,' but it's just as good, right?
Bagel (preferably with cream cheese)
Definitely a filling and quick breakfast, with a good mix of carbs and protein to start your day off right.
Yogurt
Speaks for itself. Just grab a spoon and be on your merry way.
Fruit
Easy, and will keep you full with all of the carbs and fiber.
